Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Eric Mathoho's hunt for a club looks to be continuing, with the Siya crew being informed that he is no longer training with SuperSport United. Reports emerged recently that the lanky defender was training with Gavin Hunt's side after his exit from Amakhosi, but an insider has revealed to Soccer Laduma that he is currently not with the side as they prepare for the new season.
It's unclear at this stage if the Randburg-based club has completely decided against bringing him on board, but with the club already investing in Phathutshedzo Nange and Terrence Dzvukamanja recently, they might not dig deeper into the pockets to add Mathoho to their squad for the upcoming campaign.
The former Bloemfontein Celtic centre-back made just one appearance for the Soweto giants last season, as former head coach Arthur Zwane preferred to use other options in the heart of defence.
"From what I know, he is no longer training with SuperSport. When the team went to Durban now, he did not go with them," a source told this publication.
The 33-year-old spent 11 years at Naturena before leaving at the end of last season and Matsatsantsa are not the only club that has shown some interest in his service, the crew understands. One of the other clubs who are understood to be looking at the possibility of bringing him in is TS Galaxy, who have lost Given Msimango to the Glamour Boys.
Soccer Laduma has since reported that Polokwane City could be an option for Tower. Read the full story here.
