Versatile star Siyabonga Nhlapo has revealed that his next move will not only be about money, as he is more focused on getting more minutes under the belt in the final few years of his career. The player's contract with SuperSport United expired in June and the club decided against renewing it, as he left after a successful six-year spell that saw him winning two MTN8 titles.
The former Jomo Cosmos and Bidvest Wits man, who made 21 appearances in all competitions for the Tshwane outfit last season, is currently training on his own with the aim of finding a new club in the near future, as he is hungry to show that he can still play football at the highest level.
At 34, Nhlapo believes he still has so much to offer the game and is just waiting for an opportunity to add value to any club interested in him. Such is his versatility that he can play at right back, in central defence or at the heart of midfield.
"I am willing to take a lower package," he told the Siya crew, matter-of-factly.
The other players who have departed Matsatsantsa along with Nhlapo are the experienced trio of Aubrey Ngoma, Zukile Kewuti and Thamsanqa Gabuza, the latter now on the books of TS Galaxy. Gavin Hunt and his technical team are building the squad ahead of a season that will see them also campaigning in the CAF Confederation Cup.
