As previously reported by Soccer Laduma during the transfer window, Al Wahda in the United Arab Emirates had shown interest in luring midfielder Gaston Sirino away from Mamelodi Sundowns this season.
But with the registration period in both countries slamming shut late last week, the Uruguayan has no option other than to stay at Chloorkop at least until January, should his services still be in demand.
The Siya crew has now been informed that the side coached by Pitso Mosimane did, in fact, submit a bid and it was deemed "too low" by the Sundowns hierarchy, although the amount has not been publicly revealed.
Downs coach Rhulani Mokwena was the first to confirm Sirino wanted to leave the club having told them to expect an offer and, as a result, he was frozen out from training with the team and has isolated since.
Sources at the Brazilians subsequently indicated that the player had later apologised as the sought a way back into the team looking for gametime, but with one foot still out the door should an offer arrive from Al Wahda.
And it did, according to information reaching the Siya crew, but was not even entertained as it is not enough to get Sirino out of a contract that runs until June 2025 at Sundowns.
It now remains to be seen whether the midfielder will feature any time soon for Mokwena in the coming weeks, starting with reintegration into the first-team squad.
