Word reaching the Siya crew is that Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Richard Ofori is already on the lookout for a new club, with the Soweto giants set to announce his departure this month.
Ofori's contract with the Buccaneers is set to expire at the end of June and, while it's not quite clear at the moment, this publication understands that there has been some interest in the Ghanaian goalkeeper, both in the DStv Premiership and on the continent.
The former Maritzburg United shot-stopper made just three appearances in all competitions for Orlando Pirates this past season, with the technical team preferring to have Sipho Chaine as the first-choice goalkeeper and Melusi Buthelezi on the bench as his understudy. In fact, Ofori finished the season without making a domestic appearance for Pirates.
This means Ofori, who was at the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year with the Black Stars, has not been able to feature in the Pirates matchday squad for quite some time. The last time the 30-year-old featured in the matchday squad for Pirates was back in March, when they faced Hungry Lions in the Nedbank Cup Last 16 match.
He was an unused substitute. The Siya crew has been led to believe that his representatives are already working to find a new club for him and a move outside of the PSL cannot be ruled out at this stage.
