Left back and DDC captain Omega Mdaka could be offered a three-year deal. Siya sources close to the club have indicated that the 19-year-old may be earmarked for senior team action this season.
The source added the three years could then potentially be effective from the 1st of September 2023.
"The team is still trying to get an experienced left back, as of now, they only have two left backs in Sifiso Hlanti and Happy Mashiane though (Edmilson) Dove can also play there," said the Siya source.
"So, they want to have Mdaka as another left back in the team. Yes, they have offered him a three-year contract but it's about 90% finalised as he is still the captain for the DDC team," the source told the Siya crew.
Another source added that coach Arthur Zwane may have recommended that the teenager should have been promoted last season.
"He has been in the team's plans since last season. But the team has been trying to get an experienced left back to be cover for Hlanti or even play ahead of him and Happy Mashiane," said the other Siya source.
"But as the time for the transfer window is coming closer to a close, they have decided to give their youngster a senior team contract. From the discussions it's a three-year contract but it's still under discussion at the moment," the source stated.
