Kaizer Chiefs are looking to bring in an Orlando Pirates player instead of Angolan wingback Anderson Cruz, the Siya crew has been informed.
Cruz was reportedly linked by local media with a move to Chiefs as a replacement for Sifiso Hlanti. It was believed that Cruz was the preferred choice of incoming head coach Nasreddine Nabi.

Siya sources have indicated that Bucs left-back Bongani Sam is now tipped to fill in the position instead of Cruz.
Sources close to the club have added that talks are underway, with Amakhosi keen to secure Sam's services.
"Yes, they have entered into negotiations with Bongani (Sam) and it has been for a month now since they have been talking. They were also looking at whether they will keep Sifiso Hlanti first or not and when it was clear that they will be releasing Hlanti they intensified their talks with Bongani (Sam)," said the Siya source.
"As things stand, the deal is as good as done. They want him to be part of the pre-season Europe tour and it has to be done as soon as possible," the source added.
A second insider stated that Chiefs are set to sign the former national youth player, with discussions focusing on personal terms.

"They are discussing personal terms with the player and they started negotiations last month," said the second Siya source.
"Pirates gave the player and his representatives the go ahead to talk to Chiefs. So, he is going with the blessings of Pirates and now it's all up to Kaizer Chiefs to finalise the deal and sign him. But all is looking good," the second insider added.
A third Siya source stated that Sam's contract with Pirates has not ended and that there is expected to be an agreement between Chiefs and Bucs, but that a deal is not done yet.
Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for comment but the club had not responded by the time this report was published.
The acquisition of Sam could be a wise move for Chiefs as they look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season. Sam's experience and versatility make him a valuable addition, especially in the wake of Hlanti's departure.
As Chiefs prepare for their pre-season tour in Europe, finalizing Sam's signing will be crucial for integrating him into the team's plans. The potential signing of Sam doesn't necessarily mean that Amakhosi might not go for Cruz in future.
