Kaizer Chiefs now have a shortlist of five possible head coaches to choose from when the time comes for interim boss Cavin Johnson to return to his previous role, insiders privy to information have revealed.
The Siya crew understands the process of selection is drawing closer to completion and that Amakhosi will probably announce the new head coach's name by the end of the campaign.

Siya sources close to the club have indicated that there are only two South African coaches on this wanted list.
Those two names are Pitso Mosimane and Manqoba Mngqithi who have already been linked to the head coach position at Chiefs in the past, and the Siya crew now provides an update on the possibility of either of these coaches moving to Naturena. Insiders have also provided clues on where the foreign coaches are from.
Both the local options were at Mamelodi Sundowns in recent years, with Mngqithi still there now but his role changed from co-coach to then have to work behind head coach Rulani Mokwena from last season. Mosimane has long been touted as Chiefs' ideal candidate with the aim to achieve what he did at Sundowns, now at Amakhosi, where the hope is to restore the club to the high standards they had set a decade ago.
"For now, it's known among the club and it's officials that coach Cavin Johnson will go back to his post at the end of the season and that is why the search for a new coach is continuing," said the Siya source.
"There are five coaches currently shortlisted by the club and these include Pitso Mosimane and Manqoba Mngqithi. There are two from Europe and one from South America but they want to cut that down to at least two or three before making the final decision.
"It won't be easy but they are doing their best right now to fight for the best candidate for the job from the five who have been shortlisted. They are all good but they are looking at someone who will understand Chiefs' culture and customs and also the playing philosophy.
"But it's as good as done that by the start of preseason the new coach will be announced," the source concluded.
A second Siya source added that the club is monitoring the situations of Mosimane (Abha Club) and Mngqithi at their respective current teams because their contracts are finishing at the end of the current season.
"I think what has delayed the selection and announcement of a new coach is that two these coaches are still contracted to their current clubs and they don't want to be in breach of contract or something like that," said the second Siya source.
"The two South African coaches are both still coaching different teams and Chiefs are waiting for their contracts to expire as well. But coach Pitso and coach Manqoba are the two believed to be part of the shortlist of the five coaches," the source observed.
Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for a comment but no response was received by the time this story was published.
