Pirates Move Ahead Of Chiefs In Sirino Race?

Pirates Move Ahead Of Chiefs In Sirino Race?

Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Gaston Sirino has caught the attention of Orlando Pirates, according to insiders privy to information.

Siya sources close to Sirino, currently in his home country of Uruguay, have indicated that Pirates are keen on the player.

The sources added that Sirino is expected to return to South Africa soon to engage in discussions with the Soweto giants.

"The indications at the moment is that although Sirino is in his country they are talking to him through his representatives and that things are looking positive," said the Siya soucre.

PSL interest in Sirino isn't new; Kaize Chiefs had previously shown interest in the dynamic midfielder, although no concrete developments had emerged from their camp since then.

"For now I can't say much about what is happening with Kaizer Chiefs but as for Pirates they want to bring him in as soon as possible. They could have liked him to join the team in Spain but it doesn't look possible due to time limitations as well as visas. But he is expected to come to South Africa as soon as he can," the source added.

The urgency behind Pirates' interest in Sirino is partly due to their need for experienced players in their midfield, especially those with CAF competition experience.

"If you look at their midfield, most of the players there, they don't have African experience and that's one of the reasons why they want to bring him in. They have approached his side and they are just waiting for him to come back from Uruguay so that there could be proper talks and probably sign him. But, yes the interest is there from Pirates," the second Siya source stated.

Sirino's potential move to Pirates is facilitated by his permanent residency status in South Africa, which allows him to register as a local player. This status not only makes him an attractive option for PSL teams but also simplifies the registration process.

During his tenure at Sundowns, Sirino became known for his skillful playmaking and crucial role in the team's success, contributing significantly to their domestic and continental triumphs.

His possible addition to Bucs would be a significant boost for the club as they aim to strengthen their squad for upcoming challenges, both locally and in African competitions.

As the transfer saga unfolds, all eyes will be on Sirino's next move. Whether he will don the Pirates jersey or take his talents elsewhere remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: his experience and skill set make him a valuable asset to any team in the Premier Soccer League.Soccer Laduma contacted Pirates for comment but no response was received by the time this report was published.
