Mamelodi Sundowns and one of their on loan strikers could have agreed on a new deal in principle, the Siya crew has been informed.
Siya sources have indicated that Nigerian striker Etiosa Ighodaro, who is currently on loan at SuperSport United, may be in talks for a new contract and that the parties are close to agreeing on a new three-year deal.

The Siya crew had previously reported that the striker should have a future at Sundowns. The sources have added that Ighodaro's current contract ends in June 2024 so now the club may want to keep him further than that. This is despite the player not being involved in an official game for the side in the past three years since joining the team.
"The new deal is as good as done. The talks have been ongoing but now they are almost finalised. His current contact is coming to an end in June next year and they didn't want to lose him for free from January as he would be eligible to sign a pre-contract with any team," said the Siya source.
"You know SuperSport United themselves have shown interest in wanting to keep him permanently and that won't happen now as he has agreed to a new deal (in principle) with Sundowns," the source added.
A second Siya source stated that the Brazilians may have been preparing Ighodaro for next season as they were wanting to sign another striker anyway.
"You know he is only 22-years-old and they know he has a future with the club. In three years he will be 25 and still young. So, now they are looking at next season," said the second Siya source.
"They don't want to be looking for a striker somewhere while they have one at the club who has been doing well every time he goes on loan. So, the new deal is to make sure he stays at the club next season and joins the other strikers at the club," the source said.
Last season while on loan at Chippa United the Nigerian scored 10 goals in the Premiership. Only two short of joint top goalscorers Peter Shalulile and Patrick Mayo, with the latter linked to the club.
This season he has already scored three goals in the 12 league games he has played for SuperSport.
Soccer Laduma contacted Sundowns for comment but no response was received while preparing this story.
