Marumo Gallants chairman Abram Sello confirmed at the club awards that they have exercised the option in Ranga Chivaviro's contract, but the striker's agent stated this is not the case.
After a strong second half of the season with now relegated Gallants, Chivaviro is almost guaranteed to be one of the most talked about players during the transfer window, with interest coming both locally and on the continent. Tanzanian giants Young Africans are one of the clubs interested in having him on board, after playing an integral part in Gallant's fairytale journey to the CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals.

Chivaviro's contract with Gallants is due to expire at the end of June, but it appears they have an option to keep him for another season. Sello told media that the club has exercised the option in Chivaviro's contract.
"At the moment, he is still tied to the club. It (the contract) was a one-year, plus an option. The main thing is that we will talk with him, his agent and reach an amicable solution. Looking at Ranga, he is 30 years old, so you must also think that his career is coming to a stop. So, if there is any greener pastures, I will gladly. The option is triggered. We will talk with his agent. Everything is in place," Sello told media after the awards on Sunday evening at Houghton Hotel in Johannesburg.
Chivaviro's agent, Herve Tra Bi, addressed the matter when he was contacted by the Siya crew, confirming that they do not know anything about Gallants exercising a one-year option in the striker's contract.
"In terms of the contract situation, I don't like to talk too much about it, because the chairman has to do it, and where he positioned himself when it comes to the contract. I read what he (the chairman) said, but I was surprised. We are waiting for the right time to talk about the contract issue," the agent said to the Siya crew.

"We didn't not exercise any contract, but I don't want to be against the chairman. I respect the chairman. Maybe he spoke about it verbally, but he knows what the right thing to do is. The contract is not in the mouth. It's about discussion, it's about the documents. But the player and I are calm and we will hear from him. We respect him and we respect everything he did for the player. It's because of his club that we are talking about Ranga today. We give him all the respect and we will hear from him. He is like a father to us, but when it comes to business, we need to discuss everything to protect everybody's interests."
