Former Al Ahly assistant coach Cavin Johnson is attracting interest outside the country with two Egyptian clubs said to be keeping tabs, the Siya crew has learnt. Johnson has been unattached since parting ways with the 2022/23 CAF Champions League winners in September last year and subsequently returned to South Africa, where he was linked with both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, though nothing came of it at the time.
However, according to sources, the experienced coach is targeted by no less than two clubs in the North African country, with indications that both Petrojet Sporting and Tala'ea El Gaish are assessing options to possibly bring him on board to their respective camps ahead of the new season. El Gaish currently find themselves on the wrong end of the Egyptian Premier League table in 14th place with three matches to go, while Petrojet, who campaign in the First Division, occupy fifth spot in Group B.
While there is no official word from the two clubs on their coaching plans, sources have revealed that Johnson is targeted by both outfits as part of the changes likely to take place at the different clubs in the coming weeks with most leagues headed for the home stretch.
"Cavin Johnson is currently unattached and is available to any team that needs his services, and he is ready. The two teams in Egypt have showed interest in the coach and it's something that could be taken forward in the near future," said a source.
