Despite Kaizer Chiefs having previously insisted that they are mainly looking at signing a winger and a striker during the January transfer window, the Siya crew takes a look at how they could bring in Bongani Zungu.
Soccer Laduma had also discussed how Stellenbosch FC defensive midfielder Sihle Nduli could be an option if current Chiefs midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa leaves the club.

Now, insiders close to the club have indicated that Amakhosi are believed to have been considering signing free agent and former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Zungu, but only if certain conditions were met.
The insiders stated that the main condition is that Chiefs have to release or loan out at least two midfielders to open up space for the South African who was released by the Brazilians at the end of last season.
"It's true there has been interest in Bongani Zungu by Chiefs but there has to be a lot that has to change at Chiefs for them to then actually sign Zungu. They are first looking at loaning out some players in that position like Sibongiseni "Ox" Mthethwa or Samkelo Zwane and then if something happens in that respect then the club will be able to sign Zungu," said the Siya source.
"So at the moment it all depends on if Chiefs can create space that can accommodate the signing of a new midfielder like Zungu. So, as much as they are interested in Zungu because of his experience, they are looking at how that could happen if they are to go ahead with signing Zungu," the source added.
A second Siya source stated that Zungu is not the only player they are looking at for this position, reminding readers of the previously linked, Nduli.

"They are planning to be busy in January. Apart from wanting to sign a winger and an experienced striker the team is also looking at another defensive midfielder in case they can't keep Njabulo Blom, as well the long term injury to Edson Castillo, and that's why they are looking at Nduli and Zungu. But all this will depend on if the team can loan or release other players in January," the second Siya source told Soccer Laduma.
This publication contacted Chiefs for comment, but there was no response at the time of publishing this article.
The 32-year-old Zungu last played for Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup final which they had lost against Orlando Pirates. In that season, Zungu played a fair amount of games for the Brazilians before being released after his contract was not renewed by the club. As Chiefs navigate their transfer plans for January, the potential signing of Zungu hinges on creating space within the squad. Fans will be eager to see how the club manages its roster and whether Zungu or other targets, like Nduli, could join the team.
Meanwhile, Chiefs' PSL fixture at home against Royal AM on November 30 at FNB Stadium has been moved to Peter Mokaba Stadium. The match will kickoff at 17:30 at the same date.
