A big-money move is targeted in the next deal for Shaune Mogaila after he surprisingly became a free agent when he parted ways with Royal AM earlier this month.
He has been one of the standout performers for the side this season despite the team's inconsistent results in the league, having made 15 league appearances in the first round of the campaign, all of them as a starter.
The club had hoped to tie the player down on a new contract as the deal he signed on arrival in the second half of the 2021/22 season is due to expire in June. Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu FC have been strongly linked with the lad from Ga-Mashashane, with indications from sources being that he has decided to take some time to decide his next move.
"For Mogaila, there is no shortage of options and it's just a matter of him and his camp making the right decision on where to go next. The player is at a stage in his career where he feels that he should make enough money to secure his future in his next deal. It isn't the same situation as when he was a youngster and still trying to make a name for himself. He has been in good form and has been performing consistently," a source revealed.
"Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu are all monitoring the situation of the player with interest. He is a free agent now after contract talks with Royal AM collapsed. Initially, the player was demoted (to train with the reserve team), but he has since left," the source went on.
