7 Pirates Players Set To Leave?

7 Pirates Players Set To Leave?

Orlando Pirates are looking to significantly reduce the number of players in their squad, according to insiders privy to information.

Sources close to Pirates have indicated that the club is still working on either selling or loaning out about seven more players before the transfer window closes at the end of September.

According to insiders, the players in question are goalkeeper Sphamandla Gumede, defenders Sandile Mthethwa and Bandile Shandu, midfielders Siphelo Baloni, Azola Tshobeni, Goodman Mosele, and Katlego Otladisa.

The sources added that while a few of these players have already received interest, others will need to be assessed to determine where they can be loaned out or not.

"They want to cut the squad to a sizable one at least between 30 and 32 players and now the team has over 40 players. That's why they are looking at letting some of these players leave," said the Siya source.

"At the moment those seven I have told you about are the ones on the list. Some of them could be loaned out while those who could be sold will be sold. That's the situation right now," the insider added.

A second Siya source stated that the club's large squad could be challenging to manage, hence the need to let the seven players leave.

"You know they will be playing in almost all the tournaments this season including the CAF Champions League and they need to manage the squad very well and they are set to loan out some of them. It won't be easy with time running out but they are working with other teams that are interested in some of these players and then take it from there," said the second source.
