Mokotjo: I Wanted To Prove I Can Still Do It

Mokotjo: I Wanted To Prove I Can Still Do It

Sekhukhune United have progressed to the Nedbank Cup final where they will take on Orlando Pirates at Loftus Stadium in Pretoria on Saturday.

One player who will be participating in his first local cup final after spending several years in Europe, is midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo.

The former Bafana Bafana player spoke exclusively to the Siya crew on what he has achieved since joining Sekhukhune United four months ago.

Speaking to the crew at the Nedbank Cup Media Open Day, the former Brentford FC midfielder discussed how good it is to find himself in the most prestigious South African cup final.

"Yeah, it feels really good. In the four months that I have been with the team we have qualified for Africa. We are in the Top Eight and in the Nedbank Cup final," Mokotjo told Soccer Laduma.

"That's great (reaching the final). You know I joined a team with good players who are dedicated. I didn't think all this would happen in the four months that I have been here.

"I joined the team and all I wanted to do is to play and show that I can still play at the highest level and still do it. But four months later, we have achieved three important things.

"Obviously that feels good. Now, we have to go play on Saturday and give it our all. We want to end the season by lifting the trophy.  We know it won't be an easy encounter but we will go there and give our best and see what happens at the end of the day," Mokotjo concluded.

Mokotjo then went on to praise the club's recruitment team for the success they are currently enjoying, and he is hopeful the structure is there for United to keep growing.

"The club has a very good recruitment plan. Buying talent. Potential experience. So that's why there is such a good balance in the team, you know?

"That worked for the team and hopefully they will continue with it and adapt to new ideas on how to grow the club even bigger. The players know what is expected of them and they work very well with each other and with the technical team. The recruitment plan has helped the team develop and grow. This has really working for the club," Mokotjo told the Siya crew.
