The move seemed to work as he and the rest of the technical team managed to help the second tier side to move from the bottom of the log and up to 10th at the end of the season.

The highly rated Zambian parted ways with Callies at the end of the 2022/23 campaign as part of the massive changes made by the club, following the exit of Kwanele Kopo who was the head coach, as well as veteran administrator Peter Koutroulis who served as the football manager.

For the upcoming season, Mbesuma has surfaced at Sekhukhune United where he is expected to serve as a strikers' coach in the first team.

Mbesuma is regarded as one of the best strikers of all-time in Mzansi's topflight, with his memorable season being the 2004/05 with Kaizer Chiefs where he scored 35 goals in all competitions.

The 25 league goals he netted that season remain the highest tally by any player in a single season in Mzansi's elite division.
