Born in Koppies in the Free State on the 12th of December 1993, Mokoena made a name for himself in Mzansi's top flight as a defender at no less than three clubs.
The right-back was last on the books of Sekhukhune United, having parted ways with the club at the end of the 2021/22 season.
Highlands Park, TS Galaxy and Chippa United are some of the other clubs that the 30-year-old played for.
Speaking exclusively to the Siya crew, Mulovhedzi described how his relationship with Mokoena was.
"It is sad that I find myself having to talk about Luckyboy in the past tense following his passing yesterday. He succumbed to an illness and my thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time," said Mulovhedzi.

"I am devastated because even though I was aware that Lucky had not been feeling well, I was confident that he was going to be fine and come back to play football which is what he loved doing the most. I was working on the next move for him, and I couldn't believe what I was hearing when I received the news of his death. We were very close and he was like a brother to me. We have been working together for years and we had a good understanding on matters to do with football and away from it. May his soul rest in peace," concluded the intermediary.
Soccer Laduma sends our heartfelt condolences and share our prayers with Mokoena's family and friends.
