The Siya crew reported earlier this month that Thembi Kgatlana was set to make a move to Europe before the transfer window was out after attracting interest from countries such as Portugal, and now it's been confirmed that she has penned a deal with Portuguese giants, SL Benfica, on the club's official website.
Kgatlana, 23, has already achieved so much despite her young age, playing – and scoring – at Banyana Banyana's first-ever FIFA Women's World Cup, as well as landing two CAF awards in the shape of the 2018 African Women's Footballer of the Year gong and 2018 African Goal of the Year award.
Now, after a successful spell with Beijing BG Phoenix in China, it has been announced that the Banyana attacker has signed for Benfica as they chase a spot in next year's UEFA Women's Champions League.
It remains to be seen whether Kgatlana will be ready to make her European debut against Estoril Praia on February 9 as the seeks to make her mark in a new country, but she'll be delighted to join a club that is looking to make it 14 league wins in a row in search of another league title.
