Mamelodi Sundowns are not giving up their pursuit of Percy Tau, their former striker who is currently on the books of Al Ahly.
Reports in January suggested the Brazilians had made attempts to try convince their Egyptian counterparts to offload Tau for a fee, but it's understood the offer was not entertained at all, with the Bafana Bafana international staying put.

The hard-running attacker joined Ahly in August 2021 from English Premier League side Brighton Hove Albion for an undisclosed figure, which was rumoured to be in the region of R30 million as he reunited with coach Pitso Mosimane.
With 'Jingles' leaving Cairo late last year, Tau's future appeared bleak and he subsequently began missing games due to a combination of injuries and struggling to break back into the starting line-up under Mosimane's successor.

It is during that time that the Downs interest picked up momentum and looked likely…until Marcel Koller took over at Ahly. Although the Siya crew has been led to believe Sundowns will try again to sign Tau during the off-season between June and August – considering that the player's contract runs out in 2024 – Koller might have made the mooted transfer even more difficult.
Tau has played 18 matches since the Swiss arrived, scoring five goals and adding two assists as well as being a key player at the FIFA Club World Cup and the CAF Champions League group stage. But Downs, according to insiders, aren't ready to let go just yet.
