The new year is set to be an exciting one for former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns star, George Lebese, and his new club are eagerly anticipating his arrival later this month.
It was confirmed earlier this month that the 30-year-old attacker had penned a deal with Colorado Springs Switchbacks in the United Soccer League in America, and he ended the year by tying the knot with his now wife, Melba Nkosi.
Now, having ended 2019 on such a high, Lebese will now be starting to get things in order for his first move overseas, and his new head coach has confirmed that they're hoping to have him there for the start of their preseason training.
Alan Koch, the Durban-born coach of the Switchbacks, will be assisted by another South African coach, Kyle Timm, as they look to improve the club's fortunes this season, and he says that Lebese and the other new foreign signings should be arriving shortly.
Speaking to the Siya crew from the USA, Koch said, "We start preseason on January 17, and we're just waiting on players' work visas now to ensure that they are here before we get underway… We're hoping all the foreign signings will be here for that date."
Lebese was a free agent after leaving Masandawana earlier this year, and is thought to have signed a contract until the end of the 2020 season in the USA.
