George Lebese Isn't In The USA Yet...

It's drawing closer to the start of the season in America and George Lebese is still in South Africa, and the delay in his departure has been explained…

Lebese has penned a deal for 2020 with United Soccer League outfit, Colorado Springs Switchbacks, as he looks to get his career back on track following his exit from Mamelodi Sundowns, and will be eager to hit the ground running under new South African head coach, Alan Koch.

The midfield man has been seen on social media working hard with former Kaizer Chiefs teammate, George Maluleke, in order to make sure he's in strong shape when he does arrive in Colorado, and Koch is hopeful that he can be there next week to begin pre-season with his new teammates.

Lebese's new club had been hoping to have him with them earlier this month as they undergo preparations for the 2020 season, and while there has been a delay, it's nothing out of the ordinary.

Speaking to the Siya crew from the United States of America, the coach said, "We are hoping to have George, as well as Andre Lewis (Jamaican international) and Joan Cervos (Andorran international) arrive next week after they receive their work permits…

"It's just normal procedures with visas, it just takes a little longer in some countries."

The Switchbacks have a host of friendlies lined up next month during which Lebese could wear their jersey for the first time, and he'll be hoping to make it into Koch's starting XI in March when the season gets underway away at OKC Energy as the 30-year-old takes aim at his competitive debut.
