Zungu, who was on the scoresheet last week as his side progressed in the Coupe de la Ligue, has battled injuries over the last 12 months, but has managed to keep battling back in order to represent his club and his country.
With two goals at the 2019 African Cup of Nations and a couple more in France, the former Mamelodi Sundowns man has had an eventful time of it in recent months, but what moment makes it to the top of his list?
Now, with the year nearly done and dusted, the 27-year-old has revealed to Soccer Laduma what his favourite footballing moment of the year was, and what spurred him on to make it happen…
Speaking to the Siya crew from France, 'Bongs' said, "Personally, I think the highlight of 2019 for me was my performance in the AFCON in Egypt... I was coming back from a major ACL injury, and have the chance to play in Africa's biggest tournament with my national team was a really good experience. I'd say that that was my favourite football moment of the year.
"The coach showed that he believed in me, and that gave me a lot of confidence, so I had to produce big-time performances in every game. Of course it was always going be difficult, but I had to be mentally strong and play for the team. I also wanted to repay Baxter with strong performances every match – I'll always be grateful to him."
