Another Twist In Tau's Al Ahly Story?

Another Twist In Tau's Al Ahly Story?

Percy Tau's situation at Al Ahly has taken another dramatic turn, with the 30-year-old's time at the club seemingly drawing to a close.

The writing has been on the wall for Tau for some time now, as his contract with the Egyptian giants is set to expire in just six months. FIFA regulations allow players whose contracts are nearing expiration to sign pre-contracts with other clubs in January, and it appears that Tau may be looking for a new chapter in his career.

Recent reports emerging from Egypt suggest that Al Ahly are keen to part ways with the South African forward in the upcoming transfer window. According to these reports, the club has offered to pay Tau 50% of the remainder of his contract to facilitate his departure. However, Tau is said to be holding out for the full value of his contract, a situation that has further complicated his exit from the club.

Tau's relationship with Al Ahly head coach Marcel Koller, according to reports, is understood to have deteriorated, which has significantly impacted his playing time. The forward has made just 11 appearances in the 2024/25 season, a far cry from the regular starting role he once enjoyed. During that time, Tau has managed to score only two goals, with his reduced involvement in the team leading to growing speculation about his future.

The reported breakdown in his relationship with Koller, coupled with the club's desire to offload him, seems to have sealed Tau's fate at Al Ahly. Despite this, Tau is reportedly determined to secure a move that will ensure the remainder of his salary is paid in full, as he looks to take control of his career and explore new opportunities.

As January approaches, the next few weeks will be crucial for Tau's future, with the prospect of signing a pre-contract elsewhere increasingly likely. Many clubs in Europe and the Middle East may be keeping an eye on his situation, hoping to secure the signature of a player who, despite recent struggles, still has immense talent and potential. Whether Tau will reach an agreement with Al Ahly or take matters into his own hands and secure a move elsewhere remains to be seen.
