National under-23 coach David Notoane has named a 25-man squad for a competition to be played in the United Arab Emirates as preparation for the Olympics, with 11 overseas-based players included.
The competition will feature Brazil, Korea and Argentina and will be played from June 5 to 11. This will give Notoane time to look at his players ahead of the Tokyo games starting towards the end of July.
The squad features 11 SA players abroad, including the likes of Luther Singh, Lyle Foster, Gift Links and Liam Jordan.
Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo is the only player from Naturena included in the squad and Bongani Sam is the only player for Amakhosi's Soweto rivals, Orlando Pirates.
Mamelodi Sundowns have Ricardo Goss, Promise Mkhuma and Keletso Makgalwa in the squad.
"The upcoming camp in Dubai is one that kick-starts our preparations for the Olympic Games. It is also aimed at integrating our foreign based players to see what they can bring into the group in terms of increasing the team quality and addressing key challenging positions," Notoane is quoted as saying on the SAFA website.
"We hope that we can get all the players that we require to integrate them during this vital preparation camp against Brazil, Korea and Argentina. It will also give us a good measure in terms of the level of our players' state of preparedness for the Tokyo Olympics later in July.''
