OFFICIAL: Chiefs & Pirates Punished By PSL!

Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have both been punished by the Premier Soccer League Disciplinary Committee.

The Amakhosi were charged with spectator misbehaviour due to a missile throwing incident during the Soweto Derby at FNB Stadium last month, with the club pleading guilty.

"Kaizer Chiefs football club was fined R100 000, of which R50 000 is suspended for a period of 12 months on condition they are not found guilty of the same offence.

"Unfortunately, in October last year, Chiefs appeared before the DC facing the same charges in respect they were fined R200 000, of R100 000 was suspended if they are not found guilty of the same offence in 12 months.

"Now that they re-offended and convicted accordingly, it means the suspended R100 000 is triggered and payable immediately. In total, Chiefs will pay R150 000."

Majavu also confirmed that Pirates were charged for a similar missile throwing incident during their 4-1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Buccaneers have also pleaded guilty and were fined R100 000, of which R25 000 is suspended on the same condition that they do not re-offend in 12 months.

However, Pirates also appeared in front of the DC in November for a similar incident and will now pay R125 000 in total after triggering the R100 000 fine back in November.

Both Chiefs and Pirates have also been ordered to publish the punishment on their websites to show supporters that this type of behaviour is not condemned in stadiums.
