As part of the progress that is being made by the club in preparing for the upcoming season, Orlando Pirates beat Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv in a pre-season friendly on Thursday evening.
Earlier in the week, Pirates issued a statement confirming that they would be going ahead with the scheduled training camp match in Spain after controversial statements and calls in Mzansi from the political landscape for the club to boycott the Tel Aviv team.

The Buccaneers went ahead with the fixture and beat the Israeli side 1-0 courtesy of new signing Patrick Maswanganyi's first half goal.
Maswanganyi was the only new signing in the starting line up as Bucs coach Jose Riveiro opted for most players who featured in his regular line-up last season to start.
Sipho Chaine, who finished the 2022/23 season as the team's first choice goalkeeper started, with Tapelo Xoki and Nkosinathi Sibisi leading the defence as the centre-back pairing, while Thembinkosi Lorch and Evidence Makgopa were some of the players in the first eleven.
