Orlando Pirates had opened up a six-point gap at the top of the Betway Premiership log to further signal their intentions about the title, while putting pressure on defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns, who cut the lead to three points on Wednesday night.
Against TS Galaxy at the Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday night as the Buccaneers won 2-0, it was their 6th league victory of the season in six games which amounts to 18 points.

Sundowns, who are in second place, won 3-0 at Loftus Versveld Stadium against Cape Town City.
With Bucs youngsters like Relebohile Mofokeng, Thalente Mbatha and Mohau Nkota currently on top of their game, while also having the support of their experienced teammates in the likes of Deon Hotto, Makhehleni Makhaula and others, former striker James Mothibi believes that the in-form players could make it difficult for opposition teams to stop Jose Riveiro's side.
Mbatha and Mofokeng scored the goals against Galaxy.
"As anyone can see, Pirates are cruising at the top of the Betway Premiership standings, but I need to add that there is still room for improvement for the team. I have been following the team's games and there has been progress, and we need to give credit to the coach and his technical team for the good work that's being done. Pirates are working as a team where everyone involved gets to contribute and you can see that with the results that are being achieved. Going six games unbeaten in the league, no losses, and only wins, that's remarkable but they should know now that they are the target of many teams. Consistency will be key going forward," said Mothibi, speaking exclusively to the Siya crew.

"Mohau Nkota, Relebohile Mofokeng and all these talented young boys at Pirates can easily win the league for the team. But let's not put the coach under pressure, and we should take it one game at a time. That is important. I hope people can now see that by going to Spain for those pre-season camps what the aim is, we have been preparing the players for the league with the aim of winning it. If the question is, does Pirates want to win the league? My answer is yes. Everyone wants to win the league. I just hope that the players will remain focused and work hard like they have done so far this season," concluded Mothibi.
