The Spanish tactician was proud of his Buccaneers players performed against the African champions.
"It's an excellent performance from Orlando Pirates, from beginning until the end, against super, good, tough opponent, they have a lot of experience," Riveiro told SABC Sport.
"They know how to minimize the way to suffer, any opponent with our performance today will struggle and they managed to keep the zero in the second. I think that's the only part we missed today, to create a little bit more in the last, knowing that against these types of teams you will have one or two opportunities and you will have to capitalize.
"But I'm so proud of the whole squad, everybody, the 20, the ones who couldn't make it to the 20, they helped us a lot during the week to prepare for this game. I think it's one more point and we keep going," the Spanish coach said.
He continued, "We had our moments in the first half. If it was extended five, seven minutes I'm sure we were gonna get the lead.
"Then in the second-half, they interrupted the game, we could not get the same tempo, it was a little bit lower. They managed to control us a little bit better, defending lower and not using so many players in attack."
