Nedbank Cup Bigger And Better Than Ever

Nedbank Cup Bigger And Better Than Ever

The 2024 Nedbank Cup has lived up to expectations both on and off the field, bringing a whole lot more excitement to supporters of all the clubs that have taken part in the competition.

The Nedbank Cup has always been about the big cup upsets which has seen some of the biggest clubs in South African football go out, but by introducing the latest campaign – Ke Yona, Ya Rona – the knockout competition has been able to ensure that supporters really feel part of it this season.

"I think the evolution from Ke Yona to Ke Yona, Ra Yona, where it includes the fans and not just focusing on the games and the clubs, has been exciting. It includes the supporters every step of the way and that's what has made it different," Nedbank's Executive Head, Integrated Marketing and Experience, Nthabiseng Matshekga, said.

"We've got the Ke Yona, Ya Rona competition alongside the Nedbank Cup sponsorship. How it works is that people who get the My Goals Plus account as well as the Stokvel accounts get an opportunity to go onto the Nedbank Cup website and sign up for the competition and do some of the weekly challenges that are posed to them. They can really win some fantastic weekly prizes, but more importantly, they could choose a team to follow throughout the tournament. If the team you have chosen wins in the final, you stand a chance of winning part of that big pot of R5 million."

Nedbank introduced the Ya Rona House, a content and viewing hub which has incredibly combined football, entertainment and culture, with football fans getting an opportunity to experience the beautiful game in a unique way.

"The fans get to be part of the matchday excitement, with all the experiences we lined-up for them at our Ya Rona House. It's a content creation hub where we invite some of our content creators and our ambassadors like Teko Modise, Siphiwe Tshabalala and Stanton Fredericks. The fans have an opportunity to meet some of the stars and can have great matchday experiences, by just experiencing the house and watching the games together on the day. That's really been fun," Matshekga said.

"It's been an exciting one and it has been able to deliver on those key points that you look for in a Nedbank Cup, we are celebrating an ongoing partnership, 17 years with the PSL and what that affords us, to be able to give into development across all of the cities we get to travel."
