Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lusufi told the media at Kaizer Chiefs Village on Wednesday during a Nedbank Cup semi-final press conference that this was possible because of the efforts from his provincial government.
"We want to see the sports grow in our province. We will invest in the teams. Though we can not say we will sponsor them directly but there will be incentives which will go towards football teams," the Gauteng Premier said to the media.
"Look at what KZN teams are benefiting from their municipality. That's good. We also have to do the same. It won't just be about the teams based in Gauteng like Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns or SuperSport United. We will involve at other clubs as well.
"Look at what we did to Marumo Gallants. We gave them the opportunity to use Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto, but we even went to Rustenburg to support them because they are representing the country and not just Limpopo. So yeah, we will invest in teams as the Gauteng Province," Lusufi said.

Lusufi added that it is for this reason that they asked SAFA for Bafana Bafana to play all their qualifying matches using Gauteng stadia.
"We want to see more national team games being played in our province. That will also help with our tourism as we can host up to three million guests in our hotels better than any other province. That will help us improve our economy," Lusufi concluded.
