The current NFD leaders have already beaten two Absa Premiership sides – Chippa United and Golden Arrows – on the way to the quarterfinals of the competition, and they insist that they'll do the same to Polokwane City.
Baroka's head coach, Kgoloko Thobejane, and CEO, Morgan Mammila, were speaking after last night's draw and not only spoke of their confidence of doing well in the Nedbank, but also in the CAF Confederation Cup when – not if – they win it.
Speaking to the media last night, Thobejane said, "A strong revolutionary is guided by feelings of love. I love this football more than anything in my life. I'm not disappointed (to get Polokwane), I've said previously that any team can come and play with Baroka and Baroka will beat that team.
"Baroka is a scoring team, we play to score, we'll score more than three goals. At the end of the day the cup will be at Mphahlele side, with the king! We will be celebrating.
"We want to go to Africa, that is our aim. Baroka is not a giant killer, it is a big brand. It is a giant itself. We will make it."
Meanwhile, Mammila talked up his team's chances in Africa if they make it, saying, "If Pirates and Sundowns can play in the PSL and Africa, why can't Baroka do that? We have the resources, even more than some PSL teams. We own our own bus, some PSL teams don't. We own our own club house, some PSL clubs don't, they are renting. So what's the difference?"
Baroka are four points clear on top of the NFD with seven games to go, and will be looking to book their spot in the semifinals of the Nedbank later this month against Rise Shine.
