AmaZulu FC centre-back Tapelo Xoki caught up with Soccer Laduma to share his football journey, the reason why he changed his surname, and some of his greatest fears.
Born in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, the 25-year-old had always been supported by his parents to pursue his dream of becoming a professional footballer and he even halted his studies to attend trails.
The trail that changed the course of his life happened at AmaZulu. After playing for the Old Mutual Academy in the Mother City, he was invited to the Durban-based club and after impressing the coaching staff, he signed his first professional contract in 2014.
Once he moved to Usuthu, he revealed the first thing he did with his first paycheck.
