GladAfrica Championship Wrap

GladAfrica Championship Wrap

In the GladAfrica Championship, improving Free State Stars overpowered Cape Town All Stars 2-0, Bizana Pondo Chiefs stunned Cape Town Spurs 3-0, while Uthongathi FC and JDR Stars recorded 2-1 victories over Cape United and Polokwane City respectively.

In addition, there were wins for Jomo Cosmos, Sekhukhune United and Royal AM.

Thanks to fine finishes from Monnapule Saleng and Sello Jaftha, Ea Lla Koto stung Igugu Lekapa in Parow to move within two points of their previously unbeaten opponents.

The Urban Warriors, who've conceded 12 goals in 7 games, sunk even further behind following an embarrassing defeat to rookies, Bizana, for whom Mazwi Aluncedo, Lungelo Nguse and Mboniseni Mbandlwa were on target.

The Cape side's Brazilian defender, Jairo Souza Da Silva, saw red after two bookable offences.

It was also a bad day at the office in KZN for the Spirited Ones, where the Cane Cutters grabbed their twelfth point when Sabelo Cele and Khethukuthula Ndlovu came to the party.

This result means Pitso Dladla's team are just three points behind leaders, JDR Stars, with a match in hand.

The Hammer Boys continued their merry march by winning a fourth consecutive fixture as Bafana Kali and Mziwokuthula Zimu both bagged goals again.

Rise and Shine did level matters in the second half via Puleng Tlolane, however, rampant JDR were the more determined outfit in Limpopo.

Ezenkosi pipped TS Sporting 1-0 with Sanele Gumede on the scoresheet, while a late goal by the veteran Prince Nxumalo helped Babina Noko defeat a resilient Pretoria Callies by the same score.

Royal AM, with goals from Levy Mashiane and Philani Khumalo, managed a rare 2-1 success over struggling University of Pretoria for a tenth point.

The match at Idas Valley Stadium between Steenberg United and Richards Bay FC ended all square at 1-1
