Maritzburg opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Sekhukhune United but they were thrashed 3-0 by Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday.
The Team of Choice are one of three sides who have collected only one point from their first two matches in 14th spot on the table.
Swallows, meanwhile, got over their opening defeat against Orlando Pirates, as they edged Cape Town City in a five-goal thriller thanks to a stoppage time penalty by Siboniso Mtshali on Tuesday.
The maximum points against City propelled the Birds up to ninth on the log, with the same number of points as eighth-placed Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs, who are seventh on the table.
Swallows have been without head coach Dylan Kerr on the bench due to work permit issues, as assistant player-coach Musa Nyatama has been giving instructions in his place.
The sides could not be separated last term after playing to two draws, with a goal apiece in both encounters.
