Absa Premiership
Teams: Bidvest Wits v Stellenbosch
Date: 28 August 2019
Venue: Bidvest Stadium
Bidvest Wits will chase a first home win in the Absa Premiership this season when they host Stellenbosch at Bidvest Stadium on Wednesday.
The match is scheduled to get underway at 19h30.
Wits have won both away matches so far this season – including a 1-0 victory at Polokwane City on Wednesday, August 14 in their last league outing. However, the Clever Boys' only home match so far this term ended in a 1-0 loss at the hands of Baroka FC earlier in the month.
Stellenbosch have yet to win in their debut top-flight season, though they have recorded two draws: 0-0 at Chippa United in the opening round and 0-0 at home to Maritzburg United this past Sunday, August 25. The Cape side will be aiming for a first three-point haul of the campaign.
In head-to-head terms, this will be the first top-flight meeting of Bidvest Wits and Stellenbosch. However, when the latter team was still known as Vasco Da Gama, the clubs met in two league games in the 2010/11 season: Vasco won 2-0 at home in September 2010, while the return game in Johannesburg in February the following year saw the Clever Boys rack up a 6-0 victory.
Here is how they line up.
