Date: 08 June 2019
Venue: Stade Océane
Banyana Banyana will be hoping for a good start as they square up against Spain in their first ever Women's World Cup encounter on Saturday evening in France. Banyana qualified for the World Cup for the first time in their history after finishing as runners-up in the CAF Women's Africa Cup Of Nations tournament in December last year. However, Desiree Ellis' charges have went through a rough patch since then as they have not won a match this year leading up to their maiden appearance at the Women's World Cup. They suffered six defeats and played to three stalemates. South Africa will be hoping their 7-2 loss to Norway last Sunday in a friendly international will not dampen their morale as they are the lowest ranked side in Group B. Meanwhile, Spain made it to the World Cup finals with a perfect record after winning all their eight matches in the European qualifying round. Jorge Vilda's troops conceded only two goals and scored a whopping 25 goals in the qualifying campaign and will be confident of a positive start. Here's how they line up:Spain: Panos, Paredes, Losada, Corredera, Torrejon, Cadentey, Hermoso, Putellas, Torrecilla, Leon, Sampedro.
Banyana: Dlamini, Ramalepe, Vilakazi, Van Wyk, Matlou, Mthandi, Biyana, Jane, Motlhalo, Kgatlana, Fulutudilu.
