Gallants Clinch First Win On Malesela's Return

Gallants Clinch First Win On Malesela's Return

Marumo Gallants got their first win of the season on Dan Malesela's return as they defeated TS Galaxy 1-0 on Tuesday evening.

DStv Premiership

Result: TS Galaxy 0-1 Marumo Gallants

Date: 04 October 2022

Venue: Mbombela Stadium

Malesela recalled goalkeeper Washington Arubi following the side's loss to Chippa United before the break, while Joseph Molangoane was also handed a start.

Galaxy were eager to end their five-game winless run, however they would need to do it without head coach Sead Ramovic who is in Europe sorting out a personal matter, according to the club.

The contests between the two sides in the previous campaign went the way of the men from Limpopo and that looked like continuing on Tuesday evening.

The visitors got the break through eight minutes before the interval, with striker Sede Junior Dion netting his second goal of the season with a neat header into the bottom corner.

Galaxy were unable to find an equaliser before the break, which saw the coaching staff make a triple change for the second stanza as Bernard Parker, Bathusi Aubaas and Kamogelo Sebelebele were introduced.

The visitors opted for a change of their minutes into the second half, with Dion's evening coming to an end after being replaced by Cheick Soumaro.

The home side's struggles in front of goal would continue against Gallants, as they struggled to find a way past Arubi and his defence.

Malesela's charges held out until the final whistle to clinch their first win of the season, while the Rockets extend their winless and scoreless run to six matches.

Galaxy will now turn their attention to Saturday's clash against Swallows FC, while Gallants start their CAF Confederation Cup journey against Elgeco Plus on Sunday.
