The Brazilians recently returned to the country following what was dubbed as a successful pre-season tour in Austria where they faced some worthy opponents.
It was in this period where Sundowns integrated their new - and old - members of the technical team as well as their playing personnel that has been roped in for the new campaign.
A notable absentee for the club was reigning PSL Player and Goalkeeper of the Season Ronwen Williams.
The 32-year-old had been battling a niggling shoulder injury since the Africa Cup of Nations where he shone brightly for Bafana Bafana, and the injury would continue to plague him towards the end of the season.
As a result, Williams, according to Siya sources, is said to have undergone surgery, which is set to keep him sidelined for the start of the new Betway Premiership.
The source would not indicate the length of Williams' absence, though his procedure is understood to have been a success.
Sundowns in his absence do have cover in the form of Denis Onyango, Reyaad Pieterse and Jody February.
