SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews feels Thapelo Maseko's move to Mamelodi Sundowns was not a good one and says he told the player.
Maseko was recently unveiled as a Sundowns player recently, joining the long list of players who have left Matsatsantsa to Chloorkop.

The 19-year-old winger had also attracted interest from Westerlo in Belgium and the European club made more than one offer to have the player on board. Maseko is currently with Sundowns in the Netherlands for their pre-season tour.
"It would have been stunning and amazing to keep Maseko for another year. I wanted to keep him for another year. And if you are asking me if it's a good move for Maseko...I don't think it was a good move for Maseko and I told him that I don't think it's a good move for him, because I don't think he is going to get the game time at Sundowns that he got here," Matthews told media.
"But the player has to look at his life and say how does this change his life and how does this contract change his life. And it changed his life to a really huge extent, for him and his family, and it changed my club to a huge extent, to be able to bring in six players."

"Westerlo was there. Westerlo would not have paid what Sundowns paid Maseko and the money that I got from Sundowns was, honestly. marginally better than Westerlo, not greatly better than Westerlo. I would have preferred Westerlo because, with Westerlo, I keep 15 percent of the onward sale."
