Makaab Hails One Big Change In Mbule's Season

Agent Mike Makaab has pointed to one aspect that contributed immensely to the impressive turnaround in Sipho Mbule's season at Mamelodi Sundowns.

After a slow start to the season, in which he was being used mostly as a substitute, there was a massive turnaround in Mbule's season and he became a key component in the middle of the park for the DStv Premiership champions, as he partnered with his long time mate Teboho Mokoena to make the Tshwane giants' midfield unstoppable.

The former SuperSport United midfielder made 29 appearances in all competitions, proving to be a key member of the squad in their run to the CAF Champions League semi-finals.

"Very proud of him. We've worked hard with him, the football club has worked hard with him. But I don't have to tell you that unless the desire comes from within...external support can only go so far. He's been remarkable. I personally believe we have not seen close to the best of Sipho Mbule," Makaab told the Siya crew, before revealing what changed in Mbule's season.

"Change of attitude. God gives us talents. We all are gifted in some way. Then, it's how we apply ourselves to our craft that's important. If you want to be a professional footballer, there are two important things. One, you've got to really work hard at training and during matches. Two, you've got to work hard on your lifestyle. You want to be a top professional? You've got to be committed to your training and your match games and you've got to be committed to a clean lifestyle. You have to dedicate yourself to your craft, from your sleeping habit, your eating habits, mental preparation...the whole thing. He has learnt that talent alone is not enough. I am super excited for him."
