A rule change by CAF has given Mamelodi Sundowns freedom to now field Jayden Adams in the Champions League knockout phase.
Adams, who was signed before the close of the January transfer window, played for Stellenbosch FC in the Confederation Cup and would have previously not been allowed to feature in another CAF competition in the same season. But a change has been made to the rule and now the midfielder can be registered by the Tshwane giants to take part in their knockout campaign, which starts at the end of March.

In a statement released on Thursday evening, CAF said: "The Confédération Africaine de Football ("CAF"), today changed the player registration Regulations of the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup, to allow football clubs to register a player, for the CAF Champions League or the CAF Confederation Cup, who has participated in either of these CAF Competitions, for another football club, within the same football season.
"By changing these Player Registration Regulations, the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup Regulations are now similar to the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League Player Registration Regulations.
"The amendments to these Regulations will contribute to the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup becoming attractive and appealing to football fans, TV spectators and to sponsors and partners in Africa and worldwide.
"These changes may also improve the quality of the African football clubs that are participating in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 that will be held in the United States in June–July 2025.

"The CAF EXCO also took a resolution extending the Player Registration deadline of the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup to 28 February 2025."
Adams made nine appearances in the Confederation Cup for Stellies, scoring one goal for the club as they booked a spot in the knockout phase of the competition. Now he will have an opportunity to play a role in the Champions League knockouts for Sundowns, who are determined to repeat their heroics of 2016, when they won the competition with Pitso Mosimane.
