"Yeah, we tried for whatever reason. Obviously, they hold the aces, and we can't, you know? He wasn't playing much, and so we tried to get him, and we didn't get him. So, yeah, we move on," Hunt told the media.
However according to insiders very close to the club, Sundowns can still loan Maseko so that he can have more game time and gain experience.
Currently, Maseko has been playing predominantly in the DDC side, and the club believes his talent is underutilised there. If his situation doesn't improve then they can loan him to a PSL team where he can play competitive matches and develop further.
"It's actually about giving the young boy the chance to play. Since he came back from injury he hasn't been playing for the first team that much and the club feels like his talent is wasted in the DDC where he sometimes plays to keep fit and have some game time. That's why they would like to loan him out to a PSL side. But that could only be next season," the Siya source stated.
A second insider underlined that despite any intentions for a loan, Sundowns still have long-term plans for Maseko, given his potential.

"The loan could only be for next season. They just want to give him the chance to grow as a player as they know the potential he has. It's just one of those processes where a player at times needs to go through and grow and that's why Sundowns are set to loan him out," the second source stated.
The 21-year-old has featured in only a few games for the Brazilians this season, and didn't play as much as he would have liked in the previous season either. Before joining Sundowns, Maseko was a regular for SuperSport United and was part of Hugo Broos' Bafana Bafana AFCON squad in the Ivory Coast.
Soccer Laduma reached out to Maseko's agent, Glyn Binkin and his club Sundowns, but received no response at the time of preparing this story.
