In what has been somewhat of a rarity, Peter Shalulile has missed three consecutive games for Mamelodi Sundowns and now the club's co-coach Rhulani Mokwena has given an update on the hitman's absence.

You'd have to go back to the 2021/22 season for the last time Shalulile missed a match for Sundowns.
Since joining the Brazilians in 2020, the Namibian has been the club's most-used player thanks to his goal scoring exploits and his impetus off the ball even when he is off form.
Therefore, it raised a few eyebrows when the 28-year-old was for a third consecutive match left out of the Sundowns starting XI, not even taking up a place on the substitute's bench in their 1-0 win over Marumo Gallants, having missed out both legs of the 15-1 aggregate thumping of La Passe in the CAF Champions League.
Addressing the media after the match, Mokwena revealed that Shalulile is experiencing a complicated muscle problem, but was not at liberty to divulge the full extent of the perceived injury.
"We'll update you, he's got a little bit of a complicated situation and we are trying to see various specialists and get different opinions, so anything that I say will just be based on suspicion and not facts," Mokwena told journalists.
"Let's wait, I think the club will give an update but at the moment, [he is] unavailable because there's a bit of a complication with Peter and when I say complication, I mean muscular – nothing else – just muscular. So, let's wait. We are trying to get different opinions, different feedback from different specialists and the club will give proper feedback," he added.

It is unclear whether Shalulile will recover in time to feature in Sundowns' second leg MTN8 semi-final clash on Saturday, although judging by Mokwena's words, it seems highly unlikely at this stage.
