Mokwena recently made headlines by becoming the first coach to win their first 11 league games in charge at a top-flight club in PSL history
While others have come close, no coach has managed to accomplish the feat achieved by the young coach, who has taken to his new role with aplomb, justifying the shake-up within the Sundowns technical team.
So impressive has Mokwena's start to his tenure been that he has amassed a better win rate than Pitso Mosimane in his first stint as Sundowns coach. In the 2012/13 season, Mosimane managed four wins, five draws and two defeats in his first 11 matches in charge of the Brazilians.
Stuart Baxter, the last Kaizer Chiefs coach to lift silverware for the club, enjoyed a similar record to that of Mokwena during the 2014/15 season. The Scotsman enjoyed 10 wins and just one draw in his first 11 matches in Chiefs' rampaging campaign.
Similarly, Ernst Middendorp, another former Kaizer Chiefs coach enjoyed a stellar start to the 2019/20 campaign, in which Chiefs came just minutes from lifting the PSL title. The German suffered just one defeat and recorded one draw with an impressive nine wins in his first 11 matches of the campaign.
Mokwena can make even more matches by winning his first 12 matches in charge of Sundowns, although his quest would have to wait as Sundowns next league match comes in March when they take on Stellenbosch FC.
