With Kaizer Chiefs failing to secure the club's desired transfer targets, Siya sources have since revealed the reason for the collapsed Riaan Hanamub deal.
According to sources, Amakhosi's signing of Golden Arrows' left-back Bradley Cross, was due to a failed exchange deal, after rejected interest in Stellenbosch FC's Fawaaz Basadien.

Insiders have suggested that Chiefs proposed a swap deal to AmaZulu, involving Sibongiseni 'Ox' Mthethwa and Hanamub moving in opposite direction. However, it is understood that Usuthu were not interested in a player exchange, leading to the collapse of the deal.
"There was an offer from Kaizer Chiefs for Riaan (Hanamub) which AmaZulu FC were considering, but things changed when Chiefs asked for a player swap plus money for Hanamub. They were offering Mthethwa, while AmaZulu wanted Chiefs to pay the amount they were looking for. That's how the deal fell through. AmaZulu were willing to sell Hanamub to Chiefs and that's why they extended his contract, so they could cash in on him. But Chiefs wanted a player swap plus cash, which AmaZulu turned down," a source revealed.

Indications are that Usuthu were looking for around R8 million for Hanamub to make the move to Naturena.
"If Chiefs had managed to pay the R8 million without involving the swap deal with Ox, they could have signed Hanamub before even considering Cross from Golden Arrows. But Chiefs were willing to pay at least R4m plus Mthethwa for the deal to go through, and that's where things fell apart," the sourced added.
Soccer Laduma reached out to both Chiefs and AmaZulu for comment, but attempts were unsuccessful.
