Kickoff.com reported that Chiefs have made contact with the 56-year-old who currently serves as the technical director of Brazilian giants Santos.
He has played with and coached some of the biggest stars
Hailing from Sao Paulo Brazil, the coach has worked with and played with some of Brazil's biggest stars. As a player, he played alongside the likes of Ze Roberto, Denilson, Giovanni and scores of others. As a coach, the likes of Manchester City's Ederson, PSG's Marquinhos, Liverpool's Allison, Arsenal's Gabriel Jesus are amongst the players that have been coached by Gallo.
Success rate as a coach
As per his impressive CV, which has seen him sit in the dugout for clubs such as Santa Cruz, Botafogo, Sao Caetano, Vitoria, Nautico, Ponte Preta, Al-Qadsiah, he boasts a 53.6% win rate. His most successful spell as a coach was with the Brazil u23 national team in 2013/14, where he enjoyed a 84,94% win rate, winning a number of trophies such as the Toulon Tournament.
Outspoken and controversial
In his most recent spell, as Santos Sporting Director, Gallo has on more than one occasion challenged the standard of refereeing in Brazil. Gallo laid a complaint with the CBF in Santos' match in October, where they were denied two goals according to the coach.
"Santos cannot understand the penalty, on a ball leaving the area, athlete with his back turned. Santos does not and will not accept this type of move. We will make a representation at the CBF, where we were well received. And also the line drawn on the disallowed goal Santos will not accept this type of situation and will put itself to the detriment of it. We do not accept a blunder at this moment, even with VAR," he told Brazilian media at the time.
Multilingual
Having coached in UAE with Al Ain as well as in Saudi Arabia with Al-Qadsiah, Gallo has the experience of coaching outside of his native Brazil. The coach, the Siya crew understands, is predominantly Portuguese; however, he is able to converse in English, making him an ideal candidate for the vacant Chiefs job.
Extensive Coaching Experience
Holding a pro license from the CBF, Gallo has had over 30 coaching jobs, including national team stints since becoming a coach in 2002. He has also worked under former Bafana Bafana coach Carlos Alberto Perreira.
