The departure of Njabulo Blom will leave a big gap in the middle of the park and former Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Farouk Khan has questioned who will be able to replace the player who has left Amakhosi for Major League Soccer.
Blom was a key component in the middle of the park for the Soweto giants, protecting the back four with his ability to read the game well.

Being versatile meant that he could be played in a more advanced role in midfield, or at right back where he his athleticism allowed him to get forward and still get back to fulfil his defensive duties.
Now, the big question is who will replace Blom. Do they go into the market to find a replacement, or can the likes of Cole Alexander, Phathutshedzo Nange, George Matlou and Sabelo Radebe make Amakhosi supporters forget that Blom is no longer part of the team?
"They have lost a player who has made an impact and he made that number six position his. He was a very important player. After Tinashe (Nengomasha), we have never seen Chiefs replace a number six of that calibre. Blom understood the culture because he was from the academy, which is very important. My question is there a player they would replace him with? They've made several signings. They signed (Siyethemba) Sithebe without hindsight. Sithebe has not lived up to expectation," Khan told the Siya crew.

"They signed a few players from Swallows and, in my opinion, have not lived up to expectation and they are not long-term Kaizer Chiefs players. Maart was a good signing. Other than Maart, I am not sure if I see players who can add value in the long term. I don't say Blom is irreplaceable. The players they have can add value, but can they give you what Blom was giving you? That's my question. I don't see that in the short term."
