Thabang Rooi, a former Kaizer Chiefs defender and current coach at Vaal University of Technology (VUT), believes that Zungu could be a valuable addition to the Amakhosi squad.
In an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma, Rooi expressed his views on the potential benefits of Zungu joining Chiefs.
"I think it can be a good move provided he doesn't relax when he gets there. For his experience he can help the team do well because they lack experience in the middle of the park. That's where the team needs to be strong. And since they are building a new team for the new season I think they should look at him. He can make a difference with his experience," Rooi told the Siya crew.
Rooi highlighted the invaluable lessons the younger players at Chiefs could learn from Zungu, given his extensive international experience.

"If you look at Chiefs at the moment there are not many players with the experience like Bongani (Zungu) has. Apart from playing for Bafana Bafana he has been in Europe. He played in Portugal, France and Scotland. That just shows the experience he has which the youngsters at the club can learn from him. You need a player like Zungu in your team. He still has a lot in him to give to our football. So, yes I think it could be a good move for Chiefs if they sign him," Rooi observed.
Zungu's availability as a free agent presents an opportunity for Chiefs to bolster their midfield with a seasoned professional who brings both local and international experience. As Chiefs aim to rebuild and strengthen their squad for the upcoming season, integrating a player of Zungu's calibre could not only enhance their on-field performance but also provide mentorship to the emerging talents within the team.
Rooi's endorsement underscores the potential positive impact Zungu could hypothetically have at Chiefs, making his potential signing a strategic move worth considering.
