Nabi: I’m Here To Fulfil The Mission

Nabi: I’m Here To Fulfil The Mission

Nasreddine Nabi has reiterated his mission for Kaizer Chiefs as the Betway Premiership has entered the next level with games coming quickly for teams.

On Wednesday, as Amakhosi visited Magesi FC at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, the team came back with a valuable away point after the 2-2 draw, although the Tunisian tactician will admit that three points would have been better against the league's newbies.

Chiefs are now on seven points after five games from two wins and a draw as the focus for the side is shifting for this weekend to the eagerly awaited Carling Knockout quarter-final clash against Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium.

Nabi has reiterated asking for patience as he and his technical team are working on improving the team after some disappointments in recent seasons.

"I don't want to every time highlight that the management brought me in for a special mission. And that mission I am here to fulfil is the mission that has steps. The first step is the transition period. I'm not saying this to cover ourselves because of the results either negative or positive, but we try to stick to the same trajectory of the mission," said Nabi, speaking to journalists during Carling Knockout media day at the PSL offices in Johannesburg on Thursday.

"This mission that we are fulfilling has many steps. We've got some media that are trying to portray that Kazer Chiefs is a contender for a trophy or the league immediately, which is not the case. But we have to play and get the results right. In the meantime, there is something that has happened in the previous years. 10 years without a trophy, and last season was probably the worst season in Kaizer Chiefs history finishing 10th, which brings us to the objective of a long-term project to become the Kaizer Chiefs that everyone wants to see, which is to be on the top of the table and to challenge for any trophy. In the meantime, there are steps that we need to go in line with what we want to do with Kaizer Chiefs. Because we don't want to create any misunderstanding with our fans. But we promise that we are going to do everything we can, and we are doing everything we can to as soon as possible reach the level, and that's why we are calling on the media that is saying that Kaizer Chiefs is a contender immediately to say that's not the case, if you see where we are coming and where we are going," the coach said, speaking through an interpreter in assistant coach Cedric Kaze.
