Kaizer Chiefs' reported pursuit of South African wide forward Tashreeq Matthews, who is based in Sweden, could gain momentum given the circumstances around his career.
The Siya crew previously reported that Amakhosi could look into bringing Matthews back to South Africa from Swedish club IK Sirius, where he has been in a great form, and has more goal contributions than any South African this season.

The 23-year-old was tipped to have a big career in Europe after he joined Borussia Dortmund's B side from the Ajax Cape Town development ranks but he found it tough to break into the big leagues, falling down the radar, with loan spells between Netherlands and Swedish sides making up his senior career so far.
Following a good season at Sirius, where the Allsvenskan has only three rounds left before the league campaign concludes, there could be established sides looking to bring him on board, which could give Chiefs competition.
However, Amakhosi have a good chance of signing the former Dortmund striker if they are serious, according to South African renowned agent Rob Moore, who used to manage Matthews, revealed that the youngster had a chance to sign for Major League Soccer side Toronto before they scouted Cassius Mailula but he turned them down.
"When I used to look after Tashreeq Matthews, we had a chance to go to Toronto before (Cassius) Mailula, it was exactly January 2022," Moore said on the ThisIsFootball.Africa YouTube channel.
"And he could have gone there, the Italians (Federico Bernardeschi and Lorenzo Insigne) were coming in June I think (2022), he could have had six months there, he could have had a great opportunity to learn at a different level.
"And for some reason Tashreeq Morris said he doesn't want to go and he ends up going to Sirius in Sweden, where after a slow start he has done well now," he said.
One of the things that can work in Chiefs' favour is that Sirius are not really a famous club in Sweden, where they are lying ninth on the league table with three rounds of matches remaining. Though it won't necessarily be easy to attract a big European transfer.
Moore also suggested that it would be difficult for Matthews to get a sizable transfer playing for Sirius.
"But how easy is it to get out of Sirius to a reasonably sized transfer? It's not easy, where it's like if he had gone to Toronto and done really well and Matthews was younger than what Mailula was when he went over, Matthews could have come back to Europe on a completely different level," he added.
At 23, perhaps what Matthews needs is to make a big impact at a bigger club, where he could once again get the attention of the European heavyweights and also Bafana Bafana.
